About Trichy<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Tiruchirappalli (formerly Trichinopoly in English), also called Tiruchi or Trichy, is a major tier II city in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is the fourth largest city in the state. Located 322 kilometres (200 mi) south of Chennai and 374 kilometres (232 mi) north of Kanyakumari, Tiruchirappalli sits almost at the geographic centre of the state. The Cauvery Delta begins 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) west of the city where the Kaveri river splits into two, forming the island of Srirangam.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Tiruchirappalli\u2019s recorded history begins in the 3rd century BC, when it was under the rule of the Cholas. The city has also been ruled by the Pandyas, Pallavas, Vijayanagar Empire, Nayak Dynasty, the Carnatic state and the British. The most prominent historical monuments in Tiruchirappalli include the Rockfort, the Ranganathaswamy temple at Srirangam and the Jambukeswarar temple at Thiruvanaikaval. The archaeologically important town of Uraiyur, capital of the Early Cholas, is now a neighbourhood in Tiruchirappalli. The city played a critical role in the Carnatic Wars (1746\u20131763) between the British and the French East India companies. Tiruchirappalli is internationally known for a brand of\u00a0cheroot<\/i>\u00a0known as the Trichinopoly cigar, which was exported in large quantities to the United Kingdom during the 19th century.<\/p>\n

How to reach Trichy.\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

A major road and railway hub in the state, the city is served by the Tiruchirappalli International Airport.<\/p>\n

The most commonly used modes of local transport in Tiruchirappalli are the state government-owned\u00a0Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation\u00a0(TNSTC) buses, and auto rickshaws. The city has two major bus termini; Chatram Bus Stand and Central Bus Stand, both of which operate intercity services and local transport to suburban areas. Tiruchirappalli is served by Tiruchirappalli International Airport,\u00a012km from the college campus.The airport handles fivefold more international air traffic than domestic services, making it the only airport in India with this huge variation. There are regular flights to Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Colombo, Dubai, Kuala Lumpur,\u00a0and Singapore.<\/p>\n

By Train<\/strong>
Trichy Junction is one of the major railway stations in south India. Regular trains from Trichy are available to Madurai, Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai and Tirupati.<\/p>\n

By Road\u00a0<\/strong>
Roads are well linked and offer you a comfortable journey to different destinations. You can hire any taxi, car or buses like Volvo, AC sleeper, AC bus to travel from one place to another. It is very easy to reach Tiruchirapalli from Coimbatore (206km), Chennai (330km), Bangalore (331km), Kochi (362km) and Trivandrum (391km).<\/p>\n

How to reach C.A.R.E Campus<\/strong><\/h4>\n

C.A.R.E. (Center for Applied Research & Education) is situated in Thayanur, 8 Km from Trichy Junction, along the Trichy \u2013 Dindigul NH-45 highway. Local buses, Auto rickshaws, Ola cabs are available from the central bus stand, Railway junction and Chatram bus stand for commute.<\/p>\n
