PREAMBLE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The student code of conduct [<em>Code<\/em>] is\nestablished to foster and protect the core missions of the GNET \u2013 CARE Group of\nInstitutions, Trichy. It aims at the scholarly and civic development of the\ninstitution\u2019s students in a safe and secure learning environment, to protect\nthe people, properties and processes that support the institution and its\nmissions. Rules and regulations are necessary to mark the boundaries of this\nneeded order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>II. APPLICABILITY<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<em>Code<\/em>&nbsp;is applicable to all\nstudents, which includes all persons taking programme at various constituent\ninstitutes of the CARE GROUP, either fulltime or part-time, pursuing\nundergraduate, Post graduate, professional studies. Persons who withdraw after\nallegedly violating the Code, who are not officially enrolled for a particular\nsemester or term, but have a continuing relationship with the Institute, or who\nhave been notified of their acceptance for admission are considered as\n\u201cstudents\u201d. The Code applies to all locations of the Institute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>III. JURISDICTION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<em>Code<\/em>&nbsp;applies to the on-campus\nconduct of all students at all the location \/ campus of the Institute. The code\nalso applies to the off-campus conduct of students in direct connection with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Academic course requirements or any credit-bearing\nexperiences, such as internships, field trips, industrial visits etc.;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Any activity supporting pursuit of a degree, such\nas research at another institution or a professional practice assignment;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Any activity sponsored, conducted, or authorized by\nthe institute or by registered student organizations;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Any activity that causes substantial destruction of\nproperty belonging to the institute or members of the institute fraternity or\ncauses serious harm to the health or safety of members of the institute\nfraternity<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Any activity in which a police report has been\nfiled, a summons or indictment has been issued, or an arrest has occurred for\nany act or omission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The code is applicable to all violations of rules,\nprescribed by the Government or University or Institution,&nbsp;like ragging\nthe fellow students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;Students continue to be subjected to\nthe laws of the land while at the institute, and violations of those laws may\nalso constitute violations of the code. In such instances, the institute may\nproceed with its own disciplinary action under the code independently of any\ncriminal proceeding involving the same conduct and may impose sanctions for\nviolation of the code even if such criminal proceeding is not yet resolved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;IV. RESPONSIBILITIES OF STUDENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nStudents are members of the institute and citizens\nof the state. As citizens, students are responsible to the society of which\nthey are a part, and, as students, they are responsible to the academic\nfraternity of the institute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nAdmission to the institute carries with it the\npresumption that students will conduct themselves as responsible members of the\nacademic fraternity. As a condition of enrollment, all students assume\nresponsibility to observe standards of conduct that will contribute to the\npursuit of academic goals and to the welfare of the academic fraternity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nThey are expected to practice high standards of\nacademic and professional honesty and integrity and also to respect the rights,\nprivileges, and property of other members of the academic fraternity and the\nsociety. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nThey should refrain from any conduct that would\ninterfere with institute functions or endanger the health, welfare, or safety\nof other persons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nAs a citizen of State, a student should not\ndiscriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, age, religion, gender,\nnational or ethnic origin, marital status, sexual preference, physical\ndisability, or any other legally protected status. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nThey should at all times conduct themselves in a\nmanner, which is not prejudicial to any law of the land. Their conduct should\naim to achieve the meaning, mandate and manifestation as enshrined in the\nConstitution of India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>V. DISCIPLINARY MISCONDUCT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Any student found to have committed or to have\nattempted to commit the following misconduct is subject to appropriate\ndisciplinary action under this Code. The instances of misconduct are not to be\ninterpreted as all\u2013inclusive of situations in which disciplinary action will be\ninvoked.&nbsp; These instances are illustrative, and the Institute reserves the\nright to take disciplinary action in appropriate circumstances not set out in\nthis handbook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The illustrative list of misconduct is as follows (Not\nexhaustive):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\n<strong>Academic Misconduct<\/strong>: Academic Misconduct means plagiarizing, copying,\ncheating on assignments or examinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>a.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\n<em>Cheating:<\/em> The act of obtaining or attempting to obtain credit for work by use of\ndishonest, copying or fraudulent means.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>b.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\n<em>Plagiarism:<\/em> The act of taking ideas, words, or specific substances of another and\noffering them as one&#8217;s own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\n<strong>Disruptive Conduct<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211; Conduct that intentionally and\nsubstantially obstructs or disrupts teaching or freedom of movement or other\nlawful activities on institute premises or in connection with any\ninstitute-sponsored event or activity;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\n<strong>Discrimination\/Disturbance <\/strong>&#8211; Engaging in verbal or physical behavior directed\nat an individual or group based on origin, race, creed, gender, religious\nbeliefs, or sexual orientation that, according to a person of reasonable\nsensibilities, is likely to create an intimidating or demeaning environment\nthat impedes the access of other students, faculty and staff to the educational\nbenefits available to them. It also includes wearing articles of clothing with\nderogatory, racist, discriminatory, patently offensive, profane, sexually\nexplicit, or graphic messages either in words or pictures, which demonstrate\nbias or discrimination against any individual or group within the institute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\n<strong>Falsification<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211; Falsification means willfully providing institute offices or\nofficials with false, misleading, or incomplete information; forging or\naltering official institute records or documents or conspiring with or inducing\nothers to forge or alter institute records or documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\n<strong>Refusal to Identify<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211; Refusal to identify or falsely identifying one&#8217;s\nself when requested by an authorized institute official.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\n<strong>Illegal or Unauthorized Possession or Use of\nWeapons<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211; Illegal or\nunauthorized possession or use of weapons means possessing or using weapons or\nmaterials or substances usable as weapons, including, but not limited to,\nfirearms, incendiary devices, explosives, and dangerous biological or chemical\nagents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\n<strong>Illegal or Unauthorized Possession or Use of Drugs\nor Alcohol, Smoking \u2013<\/strong>&nbsp;CARE\nstrongly supports the goals of &#8220;Drug Free Campuses&#8221;. It is the policy\nof CARE that no student shall distribute, possess, or use illegal drugs,\ncontrolled substances on its premises.&nbsp; Possession of paraphernalia\nassociated with the illegal use, possession, or manufacture of a controlled\nsubstance is also prohibited. It is also the policy of the institute that\nsmoking is strictly prohibited in the entire campus of CARE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>8.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\n<strong>Unauthorized Access and Use<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211; Unauthorized access means accessing without\nauthorization institute property, facilities, services, or information systems,\nor obtaining or providing to another person the means of such unauthorized\naccess, including, but not limited to, using or providing without authorization\nkeys, access cards, or access codes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\n<strong>Act of Violence, Threatening, Harassing, or\nAssaultive Conduct &#8211;<\/strong>&nbsp;Act of\nviolence, threatening, harassing, or assaultive conduct means engaging in\nconduct that has caused injury to other residents of the campus, endangers or\nthreatens to endanger the health, safety, or welfare of another person,\nincluding, but not limited to, threatening, harassing, or assaultive behavior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>10.&nbsp; <strong>Theft, Property Damage, and Vandalism<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211; Theft, property damage, and vandalism\ninclude theft or embezzlement of, damage to, destruction of, unauthorized\npossession of, or wrongful sale or gift of property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>11.&nbsp; <strong>Recording of Images without Knowledge<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211; Using electronic or other means to make a\nvideo or photographic record of any person in a location where there is a\nreasonable expectation of privacy without the person&#8217;s prior knowledge, when\nsuch a recording is likely to cause injury, distress, or damage to reputation.\nThe storing, sharing, and\/or distributing of such unauthorized records by any\nmeans is also prohibited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>12.&nbsp; <strong>Causing Disrepute to other students \u2013&nbsp;<\/strong>Engaging or inciting other students to engage by\nany means whatsoever and performing or attempting to perform an act, which\nbrings disrepute to other students \/ faculty of the Institute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>13.&nbsp; <strong>Failure to comply with institute or any other\nauthority &#8211;<\/strong>&nbsp;Failure\nto comply with legitimate directives of authorized institute officials, law\nenforcement agency in the performance of their duties or violation of the terms\nof a disciplinary sanction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>14.&nbsp; <strong>Ragging \u2013&nbsp;<\/strong>Any act which amounts to ragging in any form as defined under the UGC\nProhibition of Ragging Regulations, 2009.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>15.&nbsp; <strong>Contracts &#8211;&nbsp;<\/strong>Students are prohibited from entering into verbal or written agreements\nor contracts that purport to bind, obligate, or create liability of any kind\nfor Institute. The Institute will hold all such students individually liable\nfor any financial or legal consequences or damages that may result from such\nunauthorized actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>16.&nbsp; <strong>Abuse of Electronic Communication &#8211;&nbsp;<\/strong>Using Institute or personal telecommunications,\ndata communication networks for illegal or improper purposes or in violation of\nInstitute regulations and policies, or related laws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>17.&nbsp; <strong>Media Contact &#8211;&nbsp;<\/strong>Students are expressly prohibited from speaking on\nbehalf of, or for, Institute with any media organization or publication, or\nfrom inviting the same to any Institute-owned or operated property, facility,\nor event without the express written permission from the competent authority\n(CEO\/Director) of the Institute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>18.&nbsp; <strong>Organization and Event Registration \u2013&nbsp;<\/strong>A Student or group of Students shall not form any\norganization, society or organize any event or collect any fund or subscription\nwithout the specific written permission from the competent authority\n(CEO\/Director) of the Institute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>19.&nbsp; <strong>Presenting False Testimony &#8211;&nbsp;<\/strong>Knowingly making false statements regarding a\ndisciplinary matter before, during or after the disciplinary adjudication\nprocess.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>20.&nbsp; <strong>Mobile Phone \u2013<\/strong> Students are expressly prohibited from carrying of mobile \/ cell phones\nin to the campus. Failing which such phones will be confiscated from the\nstudents and will not be returned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>21.&nbsp; <strong>Two Wheelers \u2013 <\/strong>Students are prohibited from entering the campus by Two-Wheelers<strong>. <\/strong>&nbsp;If\nfound, the student will be suspended from the institute for a stipulated period\nof time by the respective Discipline committee \/ Dean \/ Director.Students\nare permitted to come to campus only through the college bus. This is to ensure\nsafety of the students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>22.&nbsp; <strong>Dress Code \u2013<\/strong> Male students should come in formals only with black shoes failing\nwhich will not be entertained to attend any classes. Female Students should\nwear only churidhars with dhuppatta. Short churidhars are not permitted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>23.&nbsp; <strong>Identification Card \u2013<\/strong> The student at any point of time, should be in\npossession of ID Card visible at all times within the campus, failing which,\nthe students will not be permitted to enter the campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>24.&nbsp; <strong>Violation of Institute rules<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211; Violation of other published institute\nregulations, policies, or rules, or violations of law. These Institutional\nregulations, policies, or rules include, but are not limited to, those rules,\nwhich regulate dress code, which regulate submission of assignments, which\nregulate examinations, which prohibit the misuse of library, misuse of\ncomputing resources, misuse&nbsp;of laboratory, which regulate acts which\namounts to sexual harassment, rules for student and hostel rules and\nregulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>25.&nbsp; <strong>Language <\/strong>\u2013 Students are encouraged to use English Language for communication\ninside the campus for their own benefit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>26.&nbsp; <strong>No Objection Certificate <\/strong>\u2013 Students have to submit a \u2018No Objection\nCertificate\u2019 from the parents whenever the College arranges educational tours,\npicnics etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>27.&nbsp; <strong>Self-discipline <\/strong>\u2013 Students have to observe self-discipline and cleanliness. Spitting and\nthrowing trash anywhere inside the college campus must be avoided. Keep the\ncampus clean by using the garbage bins provided. It becomes student\u2019s duty to\nreport all cases the impropriety and misbehavior to the college authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>28.&nbsp; <strong>Compulsory Attendance <\/strong>\u2013 It is compulsory to attend Independence Day \/\nRepublic Day Function \/ Annual Sports \/ College Foundation Day \/ College day\nwhether on working days or on holidays. In case of absence at any of these\nfunctions without valid reasons, the Director may take disciplinary action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>29.&nbsp; <strong>Political Involvement \u2013 <\/strong>Students are required not to involve either\ndirectly or indirectly in any form of politics inside the college during their\nentire period of study. If found, strict disciplinary action may be initiated\nagainst the students, which may even result in the termination from the\ncollege. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>VI. Grievance Cells of every Institute<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every institute shall form Grievance Committee to\naddress grievances of students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Constitution of Grievance Committee:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Director\/Dean<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Senior Faculty nominated by the Director\/Dean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; One member of teaching faculty who will necessarily\nbe a female member.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Office Superintendent \/ Administrative Head\n(convener of the meetings)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Procedure:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nThe aggrieved student would submit in writing\nhis\/her grievance to the Registrar\/ Office Superintendent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nThe Office Superintendent \/ Administrative Head\nwould convene a meeting of members within ten days of receiving the complaint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nWhere the Director is not a member of the\ncommittee, the report of the committee must be submitted to him\/her within 5\nworking days of the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nThe decision taken would be communicated to the\nstudent within 3 further working days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nFurther the student can appeal to the Institute\nGrievance Committee (appellate authorities) within 5 working days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>VII. HEARING AND APPEALS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Any student charged with violation of the Code\nshall have the opportunity to receive a fair hearing. To safeguard the rights\nof students, there is an appeal procedure to govern the alleged violations of\nthis policy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Composition:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Director<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The Associate Director\/Deans<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The Faculty Member (Female) other than the school \/ institute from where\nthe students submit the grievances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Administrative Heads.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CODE OF CONDUCT FOR STUDENTS I.
