Introduction:<\/strong>
\nThe Department of Civil Engineering of CARE College of Engineering, Trichy organized the inaugural of
\nthe IGS (Indian Geotechnical Society) Student Chapter on 11th March 2023. The Principal of the college
\npresided over the function and the office bearers of the student chapter were introduced. The chief
\nguest for the event was the Founder Chairman of IGS Trichy Chapter, Dr. K. Muthukkumaran, Professor –
\nNIT Trichy.
\nOffice Bearers Introduction:<\/strong>
\nThe office bearers of the IGS Student Chapter were introduced during the event. The identified members
\nwere V. Kaviya as President, M. Muthuram as Vice President, M. Sudharsan as Secretary, V.Sneha as Joint
\nSecretary. Upon the introduction of the office bearers, the chief guest handed over the IGS Student
\nChapter certificate to the principal along with the HOD and office bearers. The Principal of the college
\ncongratulated the office bearers and encouraged them to work towards the betterment of the society
\nthrough their initiatives.<\/p>\n

Chief Guest Lecture:<\/strong>
\nThe chief guest for the event, Dr. K.Muthukkumaran, delivered a lecture on the role of geotechnics in
\nInfrastructure Development. He highlighted the importance of geotechnical engineering in the design
\nand construction of civil engineering structures. He also talked about the challenges faced by
\ngeotechnical engineers in the field and how they could be overcome.
\nDr. K.Muthukkumaran emphasized the need for geotechnical engineers to be up-to-date with the latest
\ndevelopments in the field and to constantly improve their knowledge and skills. He also spoke about the
\nvarious career opportunities available in the field of geotechnics and encouraged the students to pursue
\nhigher studies in the field.<\/p>\n

Conclusion:<\/strong>
\nThe inaugural function of the IGS Student Chapter at CARE College of Engineering was a success. The
\nevent provided a platform for the students to learn about the role of geotechnics in civil engineering and
\nthe various career opportunities available in the field. The students were inspired to organize many
\nevents in collaboration with IGS Trichy and to work towards the betterment of the society through their
\ninitiatives.<\/p>\n
