\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0The Department of Mechanical Engineering successfully organised a hands-on workshop on Liquid Penetrant Inspection (LPI), a key Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) method. The workshop, titled “OML351 INDT,” was designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of LPI theory and practical application, while also fostering an important connection with industry experts. The event commenced with a welcome address delivered by Mr S. Arun Prakash, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, who also served as the event coordinator. The workshop was led by Mr Madeswaran Nagarajan, Technical Director of Techie NDT Private Limited, a distinguished resource person from the industry.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mr. Madeswaran conducted a thorough and comprehensive session on the LPI method, detailing its principles and various applications. Following the theoretical discourse, students were given a dedicated hands-on session where they individually practised the LPI application. This practical component included identifying discontinuities in test materials and preparing professional reports, a crucial skill in the field. The students actively engaged with the resource person, asking a variety of interactive questions that enriched the learning experience and demonstrated their keen interest in the subject.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop provided students with direct exposure to an industry expert, bridging the gap between academic knowledge and real-world application. Dr. D. R. Rajkumar, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, addressed the students and motivated them to gain further exposure in the vital field of NDT. The hands-on session allowed students to develop practical skills in discontinuity identification and report generation, skills that are highly valued in the industry. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Ajay Krishna, a final-year mechanical engineering student. The event was a significant success, providing students with valuable theoretical knowledge and practical skills in a crucial NDT technique. The department extends its sincere gratitude to Mr. Madeswaran Nagarajan for his expertise and to Dr. D. R. Rajkumar for his continuous support and encouragement. Special thanks are also due to Mr. S. Arun Prakash for his seamless coordination of the event.<\/span><\/p>\n
