The Department of Mechanical Engineering successfully organized a three-day hands-on workshop on <\/span>CRA332 \u2013 Drone Technologies<\/b> from <\/span>16th to 18th July 2025<\/b> at CARE College of Engineering. The event was specifically tailored for final-year students from the Mechanical and Civil Engineering departments, aiming to provide comprehensive knowledge and practical exposure to drone systems and operations.<\/span><\/p>\n

Inaugural Session<\/b><\/p>\n

The workshop began with a formal <\/span>inauguration at 9:00 AM<\/b>, during which our <\/span>Mechanical Department HoD Dr. D. R. Rajkumar<\/b> delivered the <\/span>welcome address<\/b>, highlighting the relevance of drone technologies in modern engineering fields and encouraging students to actively participate. The resource person for the workshop was <\/span>Mr. Hariprasadh<\/b>, IIC Vice President, Head of the Drone Incubation Centre, KSRCT. With his deep expertise and engaging teaching methods, He effectively guided the participants through fundamental and advanced drone technologies.<\/span><\/p>\n

Workshop Highlights<\/b><\/p>\n

Day 1:<\/b> The first session introduced the basics of drone technology, including vocabulary, terminology, historical background, and classifications of UAVs. Further sessions focused on the technical characteristics of drone components, followed by hands-on identification and assembly of drone parts, giving students direct interaction with real hardware.<\/span><\/p>\n

Day 2:<\/b> Participants explored drone flight operations, including concepts of operation, various flight modes, and safety considerations for indoor flying. The resource person demonstrated drone control mechanisms, sensor integration, and on-board data storage. The day concluded with practical sessions on drone assembly, testing, and calibration<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Day 3:<\/b> The final day addressed advanced drone configurations and programming techniques, covering software installation, program running, and multi-rotor stabilization. A detailed discussion on aviation safety standards, drone licensing, and flying guidelines was held. The afternoon included a practical drone flying session, allowing students to apply their knowledge in a controlled environment.<\/span><\/p>\n

Valedictory and Feedback<\/b><\/p>\n

The workshop concluded with a <\/span>valedictory session<\/b>, where <\/span>Principal Dr. S. Shanthi<\/b> graced the occasion and <\/span>distributed certificates to the participants<\/b>. <\/span>Feedback was collected<\/b>, and the students expressed their appreciation for the hands-on learning experience and the insights shared by the expert. The department extends its gratitude to his valuable contributions and to all participants for their enthusiastic involvement.<\/span><\/p>\n
