PORT VISIT - BOAT MAKING

Students visited Tuticorin Port to gain first-hand exposure to boat design, construction techniques, materials, and real-world marine operations. They explored different types of wooden and steel boats, their carrying capacities, structural components, functionality, and the challenges involved in designing vessels for diverse applications. From a design perspective, the visit helped students understand how user needs, safety, durability, efficiency, and environmental conditions influence design decisions and product development.

The experience encouraged students to apply the Design Thinking Process through observation, research, and user analysis. By interacting with boat owners and understanding their operational challenges, students gained valuable insights into user behavior, field research, creative problem-solving, and human-centered design. The visit provided meaningful industry exposure and strengthened their ability to analyze real-world problems, identify opportunities for innovation, and develop practical, user-focused design solutions.
