Field visit on Beyond Books, Into Heritage

The Department of Visual Communication organised a field visit titled Beyond Books, Into Heritage for all I, II and III year students to the historic Chettinad palace, Chidambara Vilas, on 24th January 2026 with the aim of providing experiential learning beyond the classroom.

The visit enabled students to explore the rich architectural grandeur, cultural heritage, and intricate visual aesthetics of the palace, offering valuable insights into traditional design, spatial composition, colour harmony, and heritage conservation.

Through direct observation and documentation, students gained practical exposure to visual storytelling, photography, and design perspectives rooted in history. The field visit served as an enriching academic experience that deepened students’ appreciation of India’s heritage while strengthening their creative and analytical skills, aligning with the department’s commitment to holistic and experiential education.
