International Commerce Leadership Summit

The School of Commerce, Department of Commerce (CA) proudly organised the International Commerce Leadership Summit on 24th January 2026 at 9.30 a.m. in Fulcrum. The summit was conducted under the aegis of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and BCASA with the objective of nurturing future-ready leaders in commerce and business.

The function was presided over by Dr. D. Sugumar, Principal, CARE Arts & Science College, who, in his presidential address, highlighted the importance of global exposure, leadership development, and industry–academia collaboration in shaping competent commerce professionals. The programme was organised under the leadership of Dr. B. Abdul Suban, Head & AP, School of Commerce, whose guidance and support played a pivotal role in the successful conduct of the summit.

The summit featured four insightful sessions delivered by eminent industry leaders and professionals:

Session 01: Future Forward Commerce: Building Leaders for Digital Economy

Speaker Dr. Chinnu Palanivelu FCA, Chairman – SSACCI, Managing Partner, Trust Global Network Pte Ltd highlighted emerging digital commerce trends and the competencies required to build future-ready business leaders in a technology-driven global economy.

Session 02: Leadership Transition 

Speaker Ms. Sathyapriya Chidambaram, Senior Consultant, Singapore South Asia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SSACCI), shared valuable insights on navigating leadership changes and adapting to evolving organisational and global business environments.

Session 03: NextGen Leaders in Commerce – Innovation, Ethics and Impact

Speaker Ms. ND. Madumitha, Assistant Finance Business Partner, Philips GBS LLP focused on nurturing future commerce leaders by emphasising innovation-driven thinking, ethical business practices, and creating sustainable impact in a rapidly evolving global economy.

Session 04: Commerce 4.0 – Skills, Strategy and Sustainable Leadership

Speaker Mr. R. Suryanarayanan, Finance Controller, Wavicle Data Solutions, highlighted the critical skills, strategic thinking, and sustainable leadership practices required to thrive in the era of digital transformation and Industry 4.0.

The summit witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of other colleges, promoting inter-institutional interaction and meaningful knowledge sharing. It provided a vibrant platform for undergraduate students to gain exposure to global commerce practices, digital economy trends, innovation, ethics, and sustainable business strategies. The interactive sessions enabled students to engage with industry experts, clarify their career aspirations, and develop a broader perspective on leadership in the evolving business landscape.

The programme was well co-ordinated by Dr. N. Vinodha, Summit Co-ordinator, Department of Commerce (CA), whose meticulous planning and academic leadership ensured the smooth and successful conduct of the event. The Department of Commerce (CA) expressed its sincere gratitude to the distinguished speakers for their valuable contributions , and to the organisers and student participants for making the International Commerce Leadership Summit a grand success and a memorable learning experience.
