Seminar on AI, Deepfakes & Legal Challenges

The Department of Commerce and the Department of Visual Communication jointly organized a seminar on AI, Deepfakes & Legal Challenges on 25th September 2025 at 10.00 a.m. in Summit Hall. The session focused on creating awareness about the emerging issues related to Artificial Intelligence, the rise of deepfake technology, and the legal implications surrounding them.

The chief guest of the program was Mr. N. Kaleeswaran, Faculty, Government Law College, Chennai, who delivered an insightful talk highlighting the ethical, social, and legal aspects of AI-driven innovations. His address provided the students with a clear understanding of how technology can both empower and challenge society, stressing the need for legal frameworks and responsible usage.

The event was presided over by Dr. D. Sugumar, Principal, CARE College, who emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary learning in addressing the challenges of rapidly evolving technologies. The seminar witnessed active participation from faculty members and students, making it a thought-provoking and enriching experience. The seminar was felicitated by Dr. B. Abdul Suban, Head of the Department of Commerce (CA), and coordinated by Dr. R. Vinothkumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce.
