The revival of the 1000-year-old, Uyyakondan Canal, that runs across the city, was initiated as an Urban design studio project in 2018 by the school. The project has now become a flagship project, with the aid of the “Citizen of Uyyakondan,” a forum floated by people from various walks of life to prevent further pollution of the canal. The forum has done path breaking work in creating awareness amongst the residents of Trichy on the importance of reviving the canal. As one of the initiatives a drawing competition was arranged by the CFU, for school children. The event was presided over by the City Engineer, Trichy corporation, Mrs. Amudhavalli and Mrs. Gowri Shankar, Proprietor, Saraswati Café. students from the school volunteered in the execution of the event held at the Makkal Mandram. A world record for the longest display of art for an awareness programme was awarded by Vriksha book of world records.
