Resource person – Ar. J.Godwin Emmanuel
A travel based drawing workshop on “Experiencing Architecture along Water edges” was conducted at C.A.R.E. between 08th June – 13th June 2018…It was indeed a great pleasure to work with 37 participants with lots of energy and enthusiasm! The workshop had a number of fun-filled yet fruitful learning trips to various water edges and the nearby places of significance.
The participants could explore travelling to a few places such as Swasthik tank at Thiruvellarai, Nilaikkottai Choultry near Manaparai, Vaalarumbu falls,Jamindar’s Palace and Vaanagam – the Nammazhvar’s place at Kadavur, Ponnaniyar Dam,Uyyakondan Canal at Trichy, Kallanai – the Grand anicut, the Cultural town of Thiruvaiyaru and Rock fort precinct – the historic old town of Tiruchirappalli. At the end of each day, the participants, could refine, compile and consolidate their drawings, diagrams, write-ups, to illustrate all their learning outcomes in a more participatory manner. Besides the making of drawings, the students could also learn about the techniques of “Experiential Mapping” prepared for their 7 km long walk transecting many historic streets across the Old town of Tiruchirappalli.
It was a great co-operation from all the participants throughout the workshop and to see them interacting with each other in learning was quite a pleasure!
Congrats and Best wishes to all participants who carry a lot more cherishable memories from this workshop!
