A mobile exhibition about Auroville, was conducted at C.A.R.E. School of Architecture, Trichy. Journey of Auroville – Tamilnadu is a part of a larger project under the scheme of Mobile Exhibition for the 50 th Anniversary of Auroville – an universal township, located near Puducherry and primarily devoted to an experiment in human unity.
Video, samples of products and research work, art/craft pieces, and scrolls illustrating the history, the research work in education, environment, ecology, Architecture, collaboration with the bio region and Collective living were featured in this travelling exhibition. The Tamilnadu Exhibition has been scheduled between March 8 th and 26 th across many historic places of Tamilnadu such as Chidambaram, Vadalur, Kumbakonam, Thanjavur, Trichy and further at places such as Madurai, Rameshwaram, Coimbatore and Tiruvannamalai.
C.A.R.E. School of Architecture, hosted this exhibition at Trichy, during March 15 th and 16 th . More than 180 students from various schools of Architecture, Teaching and Practicing Architects, Social work Volunteers and many others participated in this two-day event. During the inaugural ceremony, Prof.Shanmugapriya – the faculty co-ordinator of this event, welcomed the members of the Auroville team and the gathering. Principal Prof. Ar.Godwin emmanuel, in his speech, had said that the school has been continuously associated with Auroville community as part of their Architectural Education through many workshops and Design studios, right from its inception in 2010. Mr.Fredrick, one among the pioneers of Auroville, during his sensational talk, shared some of his experiences way back since 1968 since Auroville started. A number of Workshops, Presentations and movie screenings were conducted about Auroville Afforestation, Kolam Yoga, Eco-friendly Architecture and green practices, Wasteless management, Eco Femme etc. Cultural performances on the essence of Aurobindo’s poetry, and the culture at Auroville were staged by musicians and dancers from Auroville.
