As part of their course on building services, a team of second year students of architecture are on a trip to Musiri a small town near Trichy. The purpose of the visit is to understand how ecological sanitation and solid waste treatment systems work right from a small residence and up to a larger settlement. The ecological sanitation toilet at Musiri and the DeWatt system has been successfully functioning since 2005. The interesting part is the awareness on how the human waste can be separated, treated and put into proper use especially for irrigation in agriculture.
