As a culmination of Architectural Conservation Elective class, we (C.A.R.E. School of Architecture) offered a Heritage walk around the Rockfort area, Tiruchirapalli. Final year students took the role of Lead Walkers. They explained the historical and heritage significance to the group, that came out of their research and field study. The course and the walk were coordinated by Maniyarasan R.
This walk started from St.Joseph’s church, through Clive’s house, continued around the foothills; we then went to the Lower Pallava caves, Thayumanavar temple, Lalithangara Pallava caves, and came to an end at the Ucchipillaiyar temple. This walk spanned for a couple of hours, 5km. These walks will be continued, every now and then. We hope to explore the areas more.
