The Department of Mechanical Engineering successfully conducted the Industry Integrated Course on CAD/CAM (CME340/U24ME463) for second- and third-year Mechanical Engineering students. The program began with a welcome address delivered by Mr. A. Antony Luki, M.E., (Ph.D.), Assistant Professor and Course In-charge, who highlighted the importance of industry-oriented learning. The session was conducted in the presence of Dr. D. R. Rajkumar, M.E., Ph.D., Professor and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The technical session was handled by the Resource Person, Dr. M. Vivekanandan, CEO, TryCAE Industrial Engineering Pvt. Ltd., who shared valuable industrial insights and practical knowledge related to CAD/CAM applications. Students gained strong conceptual understanding of the basics of design, including GD&T symbols and title block reading, which are essential for interpreting engineering drawings in real-world industrial scenarios.
In addition, the students learned advanced concepts related to sectional views in 2D drafting and were introduced to 3D modelling concepts, which enhanced their visualization and design communication skills. The resource person effectively explained how these concepts are applied in industry to improve design accuracy and manufacturability. The interactive nature of the session helped students gain many new ideas related to the subject and improved their confidence in applying CAD/CAM principles. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Praveenkumar P, Third Year Mechanical Engineering student, who expressed gratitude to the management, Head of the Department, course in-charge, resource person, and all participants for making the event successful.
