On September 29, 2024, the NSS unit of Care College of Engineering (Autonomous), in collaboration with the Youth Red Cross (YRC), successfully organized a virtual event via Google Meet to commemorate World Heart Day under the Theme :”Use Heart for Action”. This event aimed to raise awareness about heart health and the importance of adopting heart-healthy practices. NSS/YRC volunteers actively participated, showcasing their dedication to promoting community wellness.
Event Highlights:
The event began with a welcome address by T.Pavithra from II year AD. She warmly greeted the participants and emphasized the significance of heart health among young individuals, encouraging them to make positive lifestyle choices to safeguard their hearts.
Mr. R. Saravanan, the NSS & YRC Programme Officer, led the session and handled all proceedings. He highlighted the critical aspects of heart health, discussing how regular physical activity, a balanced diet, and stress management can significantly reduce the risk of heart disease. His guidance and leadership played a pivotal role in keeping the session informative and engaging.

Presentations were delivered on the importance of maintaining a balanced diet, regular exercise, and reducing stress. Participants discussed lifestyle factors such as the dangers of smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, and high salt and sugar intake. These talks emphasized that small daily choices could make a big difference in long-term heart health.
Interactive Quiz: An engaging and interactive quiz on heart health was conducted, which saw enthusiastic participation from volunteers. Questions ranged from heart-healthy foods to common misconceptions about heart disease, helping reinforce key takeaways about heart care and prevention.
Volunteer Engagement:
NSS/YRC volunteers, driven by their love for NSS/YRC, actively participated in the event, contributing to discussions and sharing personal stories about the impact of NSS/YRC in their lives. Many expressed how volunteering had nurtured their sense of responsibility towards health awareness and community service. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by A. Ranjani, the NSS student coordinator from II year AD. She thanked all the participants, volunteers, and Management for making the event a success. All participants received e-certificates for their active involvement.
