The Department of Mechanical Engineering, CARE College of Engineering, organized an Outreach Activity at Karthikeya Polytechnic College, Manapparai, Trichy District on 15th September 2025. The programme was aimed at engaging polytechnic students and motivating them to pursue higher studies and develop technical competencies in the field of Mechanical Engineering. The participants of this programme were students from the Mechanical Engineering discipline of Karthikeya Polytechnic College. Around 120 students from 2nd and 3rd year Mechanical, Civil, and Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) diploma programmes of Karthikeya Polytechnic College participated in the activity.
Programme Proceedings
The session began at 10:00 AM with a warm welcome by the faculty and coordinators from CARE College of Engineering. The activity was coordinated by Mr. V. Venkatesan, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, CARE College of Engineering.
Technical Session:
The technical session was handled by Dr. B. Gopalakrishnan, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering. He delivered an insightful lecture on the role of engineers in shaping society, and discussed emerging concepts and trends in Electric Vehicles (EVs) and Autonomous Vehicles. The session helped students understand the importance of innovation and adaptability in the rapidly changing technological landscape.
Activity Session:
The activity session was conducted by Mr. A. Antony Luki, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, CARE College of Engineering. Students were divided into groups and engaged in problem-solving and brainstorming activities related to real-world engineering challenges. The session encouraged teamwork, creativity, and critical thinking. Prizes were awarded to the winners of the activity, which further motivated the participants and created an enthusiastic atmosphere.

Outcome of the Programme
The outreach activity was well-received by the students. It helped bridge the gap between diploma-level and degree-level education, motivated students to pursue advanced studies, and created awareness about the various avenues available in the field of Mechanical Engineering. The interactive sessions also boosted the confidence and curiosity of the students, encouraging them to think innovatively and develop their technical skills.
