The Department of Mechanical Engineering, CARE College of Engineering, Tiruchirappalli, organized a Expert Talk on OEE351 – Renewable Energy System on 09 January 2026. The program was conducted in two sessions, from 09:00 AM to 10:40 AM for Third Year CSE students and from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM for Third Year AI & DS and ECE students, at the Engineering Seminar Hall , with active participation of 93 students from III-CSE,101 students from III-AI &DS and 48 students from III-ECE. The objective of the program was to enhance students’ understanding of renewable energy systems and recent advancements in solar energy technologies as prescribed in the curriculum.
The session was handled by the distinguished resource person, Er. Arunkumar Rebero, CEO & Director, Contura Solar Private (India) Ltd., Tiruchirappalli. The program was coordinated by the course in-charges Mr. R. Parthiban, AP/Mechanical Engineering, and Dr. V. Boobesh Nathan, AP/Mechanical Engineering, along with course in-charge Mr. S. Ananth for AI & DS and Mr.G.Venkatesan, HOD/ S & H for ECE department. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. D. R. Rajkumar, M.E., Ph.D., Professor and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and Dr. J. Suresh, M.E., Ph.D., Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
The program commenced with a welcome address delivered by Mr. R. Parthiban, AP/Mechanical Engineering. The master of ceremonies for the event was Mr. B. Sanjay, III Year CSE student, who efficiently coordinated the flow of the program. The resource person was honored with a shawl by Dr. J. Suresh, HoD – CSE, as a token of appreciation. During the technical session, the resource person delivered an insightful lecture covering Unit I: Introduction to Renewable Energy System and Unit II: Solar Energy – Advanced Technologies. He explained the importance of renewable energy sources in meeting global energy demands and achieving sustainable development, with special emphasis on recent advancements in photovoltaic technologies, efficiency enhancement methods, and real-time industrial applications.
The session was highly interactive, and students actively participated by raising questions related to solar power generation, industrial challenges, and career opportunities in the renewable energy sector. A consolidated concluding address was delivered by Dr. D. R. Rajkumar, HoD – Mechanical Engineering, summarizing the key takeaways of the program. The program concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. V. Boobesh Nathan, AP/Mechanical Engineering.
The expert talk was highly informative and successful in achieving its objectives. Students gained a clear understanding of renewable energy fundamentals, advanced solar technologies, and emerging opportunities in the renewable energy sector.
