The Department of Mechanical Engineering, CARE College of Engineering, Tiruchirappalli, organized a Guest Lecture (Physical Mode) for third-year Mechanical Engineering students under the course CME342 – Ergonomics in Design on 27 January 2026 at the CAD/CAM Laboratory, from 01.30 p.m. to 03.00 p.m. A total of 27 students actively participated in the program. The program was conducted to provide practical exposure to ergonomics and industrial design concepts, aligning with SDG 3, SDG 4, and SDG 9.
The session commenced with a welcome address by Dr. D. R. Rajkumar, M.E., Ph.D., Professor and Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, who highlighted the importance of ergonomics in engineering design, workplace safety, and productivity.
The resource person, Ar. Senthilkumar S, Principal (Administration), CARE School of Architecture, Tiruchirappalli, was formally introduced and honored with a Ponnadai as a mark of respect.
The resource person delivered an insightful lecture on “Introduction to Ergonomics and an Approach to Industrial Design.” The talk covered fundamental ergonomic principles, anthropometry, workspace planning, and real-world applications in industrial and architectural design, supported by relevant case studies.
An interactive session followed, during which students actively engaged by raising questions related to ergonomic practices and design challenges. The resource person addressed the queries effectively and encouraged students to incorporate ergonomic principles in their academic and professional pursuits.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. R. Parthiban, M.E., (Ph.D.), Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, who expressed gratitude to the resource person and thanked the Head of the Department, faculty members, and students for their active participation.
