Guest Lecture on Data Warehousing – “The Power of Data: Integrating Warehousing and Mining Concepts Using WEKA”

CARE College of Engineering, Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized a Guest Lecture on “The Power of Data: Integrating Warehousing and Mining Concepts Using WEKA” by  Dr. M. Senbagavalli, Associate Professor, REVA University, Bangalore on 15 October 2025 at 2:00 PM in the Engineering Seminar Hall. The session provided students with insights into Data Warehousing, Data Mining, and practical exposure to the WEKA tool.

The lecture covered important topics including Data Warehouse architecture, ETL (Extraction, Transformation and Loading) process, OLAP operations, data preprocessing techniques, association rule mining, classification, clustering, and predictive analytics. A live demonstration of the WEKA tool was presented, where students learned how to load datasets, perform preprocessing, apply classification algorithms, and interpret the results.

The program helped students understand real-time applications of data analytics and encouraged them to explore research and career opportunities in Data Science and Machine Learning. The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the department faculty, expressing gratitude to the resource person for sharing her valuable knowledge and experience.
