Students from Campion – Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School, Tiruchirapalli, developed an innovative Smart City Project as part of their school-level Project Expo, with technical guidance and project development support from the AICTE IDEA Lab, CARE College of Engineering.
The project presented an integrated smart city model incorporating smart surveillance, intelligent lighting, smart transportation, waste management, water management, and energy-efficient solutions. The students worked on developing practical solutions to address various urban challenges by integrating concepts related to IoT, sensors, automation, and sustainable technologies.
The CARE AICTE IDEA Lab provided technical mentoring and hands-on support throughout the project development process. The students were guided in designing, developing, prototyping, testing, and refining their project model. This interaction provided them with an opportunity to apply their classroom knowledge to a practical engineering project and understand the process of transforming an idea into a working prototype.
The project was successfully showcased at the school-level Project Expo, where the students demonstrated their innovative Smart City model and its various applications. Their efforts and innovative approach were recognized with an award at the Project Expo, marking a significant achievement for the student team.
Outcome of the Project
The project provided students with valuable hands-on experience in emerging technologies, while strengthening their skills in innovation, problem-solving, teamwork, prototyping, and practical application of engineering concepts. The students gained greater confidence in developing technology-based solutions for real-world challenges and experienced the complete journey from concept development to prototype demonstration.
