The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organized an Internal Hackathon for Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2026 on 24 August 2026 from 10:00 AM onwards. The event was conducted to provide students with an opportunity to identify suitable SIH 2026 problem statements, develop innovative solution ideas and present their concepts for internal evaluation.
A total of 13 student teams actively participated in the Internal Hackathon. Each team selected a relevant problem statement from the SIH 2026 problem statements and developed a proposed solution addressing the identified challenge. The teams presented their problem statements, proposed solutions, implementation approaches and expected outcomes before the evaluation panel.
The presentations were evaluated based on parameters including understanding of the problem statement, novelty and innovation of the proposed solution, technical feasibility, practical applicability, implementation methodology, potential impact and quality of presentation. Faculty members provided guidance and constructive feedback to help the teams improve their ideas and strengthen their proposed solutions for the next stage of SIH 2026.
Based on the internal evaluation, 8 teams out of the 13 participating teams were selected to further develop and submit their ideas for SIH 2026. The selected teams were encouraged to refine their problem statements, solution approaches and supporting documentation in accordance with the SIH submission requirements.
The Internal Hackathon enhanced students’ innovation, creativity, teamwork, technical problem-solving, communication and presentation skills. It also encouraged students to address real-world challenges through technology-driven solutions. The programme supported SDG 4 – Quality Education through experiential learning and SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure by promoting innovation and technology-based problem solving. Overall, the event strengthened the innovation culture of the ECE Department and provided students with a structured platform to prepare for SIH 2026.
