The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organized a Project Expo – Testing Stage on 30 September 2026 for III Year ECE students as part of the course U24EM312 – Design Thinking and Innovation. The event was conducted from 10:00 a.m. onwards at the EDC Lab and MPMC Lab.
The expo provided a platform for students to present and test their innovative project ideas, demonstrate prototype functionality, and evaluate their solutions based on practical requirements. The students worked collaboratively to identify problems, develop creative solutions, build prototypes, and validate their designs through testing.
The event followed the key stages of the design thinking process: Empathise, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test. During the testing stage, students assessed the performance of their prototypes, identified limitations, collected feedback, and explored possible improvements to enhance the effectiveness and usability of their solutions.
The expo encouraged teamwork, creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills among students. It also provided valuable hands-on experience in transforming ideas into practical solutions and helped students understand the importance of iterative testing and continuous improvement in the product development process.
The event aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 – Quality Education, SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities, and SDG 13 – Climate Action, by encouraging innovation and the development of solutions addressing real-world challenges.
Overall, the Project Expo – Testing Stage was a valuable learning experience for III Year ECE students. It strengthened their practical knowledge, enhanced their confidence in presenting and validating project ideas, and promoted an innovation-oriented mindset in accordance with the objectives of the Design Thinking and Innovation course.
