On November 07, 2024, a guest lecture on “Hydrodynamic Journal and Rolling contact bearings” for the ME3591 Design of Machine Elements course was held at CARE College of Engineering from 09:00 AM to 10:40 AM in venue S.CR.F09. The session, coordinated by Mr. N. Ganesh, M.E., Assistant Professor, was led by guest speaker Mr. K. Chellamuthu, M.E.,(Ph.D.,), Assistant Professor from K. Ramakrishnan College of Engineering, Trichy. The event began with a welcome address from Mr. N. Ganesh, who introduced the Guest speaker, highlighting the milestones achieved by the guest speaker in handling the Design of Machine Elements course.
The Head of the Department, Dr. D.R. Rajkumar, delivered the Presidential Address, highlighting the value of Design of Machine Elements in various applications of Mechanical Engineering. The Guest speaker Mr. K. Chellamuthu covered basic concepts of Bearings, its types, Design procedure for Hydrodynamic journal bearing and Roller Contact bearings and solving methodologies for Design of Hydrodynamic journal bearing and Roller Contact bearings. The lecture concluded with an interactive quiz of 10 questions, which tested the students’ understanding of Design of Hydrodynamic journal bearing and Roller Contact bearings discussed during the session. This event provided valuable insights, encouraging students to apply the concepts to design the Hydrodynamic journal bearing and Roller Contact bearings. Third-year mechanical engineering student Mr. Abdul Rahman gave a closing address, adding a dynamic student perspective to the occasion.
