The National Service Scheme (NSS) and Youth Red Cross (YRC) units of CARE College of Engineering, in association with MaxiVision Eye Hospitals, Trichy, organized a “Free Eye Screening Camp” on the college premises. The event, held on November 22, 2024, at 9:30 am in the Electrical Engineering Lab, aimed to promote the importance of eye health and provide essential eye care services to the college community.
The program commenced with an inauguration ceremony graced by the Principal of CARE College of Engineering, Dr. S. Shanthi, who delivered the felicitation address. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of such health initiatives in ensuring the well-being of students and faculty. She lauded the NSS and YRC teams for their proactive efforts in organizing the camp and appreciated MaxiVision Eye Hospitals for their commitment to community welfare.
The event was coordinated by Mr. R. Saravanan, Program Officer of NSS/YRC, who worked tirelessly with his team to ensure the camp’s success. Dharunya S,NSS volunteer extended a warm welcome to the participants and handled logistics efficiently, creating a seamless experience for all attendees.
The eye screening camp was conducted by a dedicated team of ophthalmologists and optometrists from MaxiVision Eye Hospitals. Advanced equipment and diagnostic tools were utilized to perform comprehensive eye examinations. The participants underwent various tests, including vision acuity tests, refractive error checks, and basic screening for potential eye disorders. Those requiring further consultation or treatment were provided with detailed recommendations and guidance.
The response to the camp was overwhelmingly positive, with over 600 students and staff of CARE availing themselves of the free eye screening services. Many participants expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to have their eyes checked without any financial burden. “This initiative has been very helpful, as it raised awareness about the need for regular eye check-ups,” said one of the students who attended the camp.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by an Jeevanantham B,NSS volunteer,who acknowledged the contributions of the college management, MaxiVision Eye Hospitals, and the NSS/YRC teams. The volunteer also thanked the participants for their enthusiastic involvement, which underscored the success of the initiative.
The camp is a testament to CARE College of Engineering’s commitment to fostering a culture of care and community service.
