The Higher Education Cell, CARE College of Engineering, successfully organized a GATE Awareness Program on 31 July 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM at the Engineering Seminar Hall. The programme was organized to create awareness among II Year, III Year, and Final Year B.E./B.Tech. students about the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) and the diverse academic and career opportunities associated with a good GATE score.
The session was delivered by Dr. S. Thiyagarajan, M.E., Ph.D., Director, Gate Win Trichy, who provided valuable insights into the significance of GATE as a pathway to higher education, research, scholarships, and career opportunities in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). He familiarized the students with the GATE examination pattern, eligibility criteria, subject-wise preparation strategies, effective time management techniques, and essential preparation resources.
Dr. Thiyagarajan emphasized the importance of starting GATE preparation at an early stage and developing a strong foundation in core engineering concepts. He encouraged students to engage in regular practice, follow a structured study schedule, and maintain consistency and discipline throughout their preparation. He also shared practical strategies for balancing regular academic studies with competitive examination preparation and highlighted the opportunities available to students who achieve strong performance in GATE.
The programme featured an interactive question-and-answer session, providing students with an opportunity to clarify their queries regarding examination preparation, subject selection, higher studies, research opportunities, PSU recruitment, and career planning. The interaction helped students gain greater clarity about the various pathways available after graduation and the role of GATE in achieving their academic and professional aspirations.
The programme resulted in increased awareness and interest among students towards GATE preparation and postgraduate education. Students gained a clearer understanding of how early preparation, conceptual learning, systematic practice, and effective time management can contribute to competitive examination success. The session also encouraged students to identify their career goals, explore opportunities for higher studies and research, and plan their preparation well in advance.
