Faculty Development Program on Design Thinking – A Day of Innovation and Insight!

Yesterday, the Engineering Faculty witnessed an enriching Faculty Development Program focused on the transformative power of Design Thinking — a structured, human-centered approach to problem-solving that sparks creativity and innovation in education.

The session guided faculty members through the five key stages of Design Thinking.:

🔍 Empathize – Understanding user needs through deep observation and interaction
🧭 Define – Framing the right problem with clarity
💡 Ideate – Generating a wide range of creative ideas
🧪 Prototype – Building tangible models to explore possible solutions
🧪 Test – Evaluating and refining ideas through real-world feedback

Participants actively engaged in group-based activities that encourage critical thinking, empathy-driven insights, rapid prototyping, and collaborative learning. The hands-on exercises allowed faculty members to step into the shoes of learners, explore new teaching strategies, and apply design thinking principles to real academic challenges.

The session was led by our CEO, Mr. Shri B. Prative Chend, and Dr. D. Sugumar, Principal of CARE Arts and Science College. As part of the hands-on activities, participants were encouraged to deep dive into real-world challenges by engaging in conversations with people across the CARE community. This approach helped them gather meaningful insights into common issues faced within the institution, laying the foundation for empathetic and solution-driven thinking throughout the Design Thinking process.

The session concluded with impactful presentations, where each team showcased their problem-solving approach and innovative ideas — turning concepts into actionable solutions. It was not just a training, but an experience of transformation through creativity, empathy, and experimentation

To conclude, now that the faculty have gained a solid foundation in Design Thinking, they are well-equipped to put their learning into practice and take the next step — empowering students by training them in the same methodology.

Here’s to nurturing educators who are ready to inspire change and lead with innovation!
