The Department of Mechanical Engineering organized Alumni Interaction program for the II Year students (AY 2025–26) on 30.01.2026 from 04.00 PM to 05.00 PM at SOM Lab under the leadership of Dr. D.R. Rajkumar, Head of the Department – Mechanical Engineering with the participation of 25 II Year Mechanical Engineering students, making it an informative and motivating session
The session began with a welcome address by Dr. D.R. Rajkumar. In his speech, he highlighted that alumni serve as role models who guide students by sharing real-time industry experiences, career insights, and professional expectations. He stated that such interactions enhance students’ confidence, improve their career clarity, and strengthen the bond between the institution and its graduates. He encouraged students to actively participate and make effective use of the opportunity.
The session was then handed over to the Resource Person, Er. Gogul (2009–2013 Batch), Entrepreneur – Solar Power Plant, Trichy. He shared his journey from being a Mechanical Engineering student to establishing himself as an entrepreneur in the renewable energy sector. He elaborated on his industrial exposure, the challenges faced during the initial stages of his career, and the difficulties encountered while starting his own venture
Er. Gogul provided valuable information regarding government incentives and subsidy schemes available for startups and small-scale industries. He explained the procedures to apply for financial support and emphasized the importance of proper planning and documentation. Furthermore, he discussed the current expectations of industries from engineering graduates, including strong technical knowledge, practical exposure, software proficiency, communication skills, teamwork, and problem-solving ability. He motivated students to focus on skill development, internships, and continuous learning to meet industry standards.
The session became highly interactive, with students actively raising questions related to entrepreneurship, placements, and industrial requirements. The resource person clarified their doubts with practical examples and encouraged them to be industry-ready student.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. D.R. Rajkumar/ HoD, who expressed sincere appreciation to the alumni for sharing his valuable time and expertise as well as attended 2nd year students.
