The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), CARE College of Engineering, Tiruchirappalli, organized a “Career Preparation and Placement Readiness Programme” on 12 September 2026 for final-year students. The programme was conducted from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM with the objective of equipping students with essential skills and practical knowledge required to confidently navigate placement opportunities and recruitment processes.
The career-oriented session focused on three important areas: Resume Preparation, Job Searching, and Group Discussion. Students received practical guidance on preparing clear, concise, and professional resumes that effectively highlight their academic qualifications, technical skills, projects, achievements, and relevant experience. The session also addressed effective approaches to identifying suitable job opportunities, interpreting job descriptions, aligning individual skills with industry requirements, and using online recruitment platforms for career opportunities.
The Group Discussion activity provided students with an opportunity to practise expressing their ideas clearly and confidently in a collaborative setting. Through the activity, students were encouraged to develop communication, active listening, teamwork, analytical thinking, and interpersonal skills, which are important components of contemporary recruitment processes.
Coordinated by the IETE Club under faculty guidance, the programme provided students with a practical and engaging platform to understand the expectations of employers and prepare systematically for placement activities.
Outcome of the Programme
The programme enhanced students’ placement readiness and professional preparedness by providing practical exposure to key stages of the recruitment process. Students gained better clarity on how to present their skills through an effective resume, identify relevant career opportunities, and understand the requirements specified by prospective employers.
The group discussion activity further strengthened students’ communication, confidence, active listening, teamwork, analytical thinking, and ability to articulate ideas effectively. The programme encouraged students to assess their existing skills, identify areas for improvement, and take proactive steps towards their career development.
Overall, the Career Preparation and Placement Readiness Programme helped students develop greater awareness of recruitment expectations and equipped them with practical skills to approach job applications, recruitment activities, and placement opportunities with improved confidence and preparedness.
